Good grief! Another home brew blog site…

Not that the world needs another collection of very random home brewing tid bits, resources and trivial home brew information. But here we are.

Ten plus years ago when I got a very simple homebrew kit for Father’s Day, I had no idea what I was getting into, how much of my life I would be dedicating to it, or how fun and rewarding it would be.

I brewed many a batches, most were fizzy, yeasty, headache inducing abominations, with one exception – an Oktoberfest (ale) that was stellar. A couple years later we moved and I sold my brewing equipment and moved on with my life. Then again on an unassuming Father’s Day, behold a new home brew kit! Woo Hoo! This time, perhaps due to being a bit older and mature, well older anyway, I took back into brewing with a focused, methodical passion.

I thought back to why my prior attempt(s) were not so good and why that one Oktoberfest was. After much reflection I brewed my first batch in several years… Though the beer itself was disappointing, I was able to realize what I was doing wrong and come up with solutions.

Now armed with a better understanding of the intricacies in each process of brewing, I began to brew some of what I considered to be the best beer I’ve ever had.
